After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild. Everyone in her daughter’s life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself.

The only person who hasn’t closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna’s life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them.

The two form a connection despite the pressure surrounding them, but as their romance grows, so does the risk. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to build a future out of hope and healing.

My Thoughts

After being released from prison for causing the death of Scotty, who was killed in a drunk driving accident, Kenna Rowan returns to town to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the Landry's, Scotty's parents, aren't so quick to forget, not to mention the estrangement Kenna feels for her daughter, Diem.

There was before you and there was during you. For some reason, I never thought there would be an after you.

Ledger Ward, the bar owner, surprises Kenna as he's the only one that shows her kindness in the town. He also has connections to Scotty which Kenna later finds out they were best friends. As Kenna stays in town, their friendship grows but then the lines between them start to blur and the risk of them being together also grows.

Now that I’ve forgiven myself, the reminders of him only make me smile.

Star Rating: ★★★★☆ (4)

Kenna's self-growth throughout the entire story really made her real and relatable. I actually didn't like her too much, but by the end I was invested. Not only did those around her have to forgive her but she had self-forgiving to do. I really saw her develop and that was the best part.

Can I also mention the creative use of the name Diem as in like "carpe diem" (seize the day)? I was so confused why Kenna would pick Diem as a name but it totally fits.

Overall, Reminders of Him was a touching story and absolutely had me ugly crying. Like always, CoHo has done it. For all CoHo fans, this one is a must read!

Lastly, thank you to Michelle for reading this with me and sharing the pain. Our discussions were so fun and it was only fair we suffered together reading it. Check out her Spotify playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4cQBBiqu6cDET6r0Amwis8
