Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold on to. Jude learned that lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now, as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is left reeling from Cardan's betrayal. She bides her time, determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines, she becomes ensnared in the conflict's bloody politics.

And when a terrible curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity....

My Thoughts

Book 1: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black ★★★★★ (5)

Book 2: The Wicked King by Holly Black ★★★★☆ (4)

Everything leaves off in chaos when Jude is exiled from the Faerie world. Now Jude has begun to accept her fate but when Taryn offers an opportunity to Jude to enter into the Faerie world again, she accepts.

A part of him will always delight in cruelty. Even if he has changed, he could change again.

Madoc will do anything to put Oak on the throne. But that means he has to oppose Jude, Queen Jude. Who will end up succeeding?

I miss him, and the pain of it is a yawning chasm, one into which I yearn to let myself fall.

Star Rating: ★★★★☆ (4)

Again, I love Jude and Cardan's chemistry and they are the best for the enemies-to-lovers trope. It's so hard not getting into spoilers in my review. All I can say is, there's so much going on in this series that you just need to pick it up and read it.

Overall, The Queen of Nothing was an excellent end to The Folk of the Air series. I had so much fun reading this trilogy and it was so good. I went into it not knowing too much about it though, and it definitely surprised me.
