Today, she hates him.

It’s the last day of senior year. Rowan Roth and Neil McNair have been bitter rivals for all of high school, clashing on test scores, student council elections, and even gym class pull-up contests. While Rowan, who secretly wants to write romance novels, is anxious about the future, she’d love to beat her infuriating nemesis one last time.

Tonight, she puts up with him.

When Neil is named valedictorian, Rowan has only one chance at victory: Howl, a senior class game that takes them all over Seattle, a farewell tour of the city she loves. But after learning a group of seniors is out to get them, she and Neil reluctantly decide to team up until they’re the last players left—and then they’ll destroy each other.

As Rowan spends more time with Neil, she realizes he’s much more than the awkward linguistics nerd she’s sparred with for the past four years. And, perhaps, this boy she claims to despise might actually be the boy of her dreams.

Tomorrow … maybe she’s already fallen for him.

My Thoughts

Rowan "Artoo" and Neil "McNightmare" have been declared academic rivals since freshman year when Neil won the summer reading essay contest over Rowan. She vowed to take her revenge and won freshman class president. Since then, the two have been insufferable, competing with each other for the ultimate prize: valedictorian.

Maybe that’s the definition of nostalgia: getting sappy about things that are supposed to be insignificant.

As the last day of senior year arrives, regardless of who wins valedictorian, both are excited for the ultimate senior-wide event. The scavenger hunt that takes them around Seattle is one last chance to make memories with surrounding friends before graduation. As they play the game, Rowan and Neil discover a plot threatening to overtake the two, resulting in an unlikely team that could just change everything they've known about each other all alone.

Love isn’t immediate or automatic; it takes effort and time and patience.

Star Rating: ★★★★☆ (4)

Academic-rivals-to-lovers, one of my favorites. Though chemistry class didn't work out, the chemistry between Rowan and Neil is so undeniable. I had a feeling Neil liked her all along but just didn't know how to express it.

Overall, Today Tonight Tomorrow definitely didn't disappoint. Solomon's craft of characters is so well done and I can't get enough of it. The banter and oh-so-snarky remarks thrown back and forth never fail to entertain me. Many thanks to my friend for gifting me this book to read!
