Nora Noone’s father, Liam, was many things to many people. To the public he was a self-made hotel magnate, whose luxury boutique hotels were among the most coveted destinations in the world. To his three ex-wives, he was a loving yet distant family man who managed to keep his finances—and his families—separate. But to Nora, her father was always a mystery—especially after his suspicious death at his cliffside home.
Though the authorities rule Liam's death accidental, Nora and her estranged brother, Sam, believe otherwise. As they form an uneasy alliance to unpack the mystery, they start putting together the pieces of their father’s past and uncover a family secret that changes everything.
My Thoughts
Nora's father Liam was an amazing business man who made himself well known in the hotel management field. In private, he was a loving father to his children although the lives of his three ex-wives were kept strictly separate. So when Liam falls off a cliff, Nora and her brother Sam don't quite believe it.
She said if you are looking for answers you can’t find, you need to change the question.
As they dive deeper and deeper into their father's life, they realize the many layers Liam had hidden away. Characters begin to cross paths in so many unexpected ways as the siblings get closer to solving the mystery of who murdered their father.
Loyalty doesn't trump love... But what a thing, what a rare and precious thing if you have both...
Star Rating: ★★★★☆ (4)
Once again, Dave just blew my mind away. The way she writes just captivates your attention until the end and I just couldn't put the book down.
I also really enjoyed the characters. They all have a unique backstory and are surrounded by people that are significant to them. Each character feels very real like they make mistakes but those around them love them nonetheless.
Overall, The Night We Lost Him was just so captivating. I didn't think I would read anything better than The Last Thing He Told Me but I was wrong. In the end, it's the details that add up and make the plot so fascinating.
