Beautiful. Successful. Glamorous.
To the world, supermodel Ayana Kidane leads the perfect life. Her career has skyrocketed, and she’s engaged to one of New York’s most eligible bachelors.
What people don't know is that the engagement is only a business arrangement. He gets his inheritance when they marry; she gets the money she needs to leave her abusive agency.
Pretending to be in love should be easy—until she finds herself increasingly drawn to her fiancé’s enigmatic best man.
Vuk thrills and terrifies her in equal measure. She knows she should stay away, but when her wedding is thrown into chaos, he’s the only person she finds comfort in…
Until his past catches up with them and threatens everything they love.
Ayana is one of the most upcoming models in the industry. But hiding behind the glam is her management agency, the death hold they have on her. She wants out but there's only one way: marrying Jordan.
Jordan is heir to a whole ton of money, one that will allow Ayana to leave her agency and gain financial freedom. Jordan marrying Ayana allows him to collect his inheritance so the marriage of convenience works for them both.
However, another man wants Ayana for himself. Vuk knows it's wrong though because she's his best friend's fiancé... will Vuk stand by and watch or finally follow what his heart wants?
Star Review: ★★★★☆ (5)
Marriage of convenience?! Best friend's fiancé?! Say no more. I absolutely loved this, the tension between Ayana and Vuk were so so intense since the beginning. The chemistry was so good and you know Vuk wants her so bad but just has amazing self-control (that's going to snap any second of course). Their push and pull omg, so good.
I also thought Jordan and Ayana's friendship was cute! They are so supportive or each other and genuine companions. Had Vuk and Ayana not fallen in love with each other, I think the marriage of convenience could have genuinely worked.
Overall, King of Envy was another amazing read by Ana Huang. From obsession to dark backstories, she really knows how to write a romance that keep you wanting more. I liked how this one was darker than her normal ones but nonetheless, I literally finished the book within 24 hours.
