Majesty (American Royals #2) by Katharine McGee Book Review

Title: Majesty

Is America ready for its first queen?

Power is intoxicating. Like first love, it can leave you breathless. Princess Beatrice was born with it. Princess Samantha was born with less. Some, like Nina Gonzalez, are pulled into it. And a few will claw their way in. Ahem, we're looking at you Daphne Deighton.

As America adjusts to the idea of a queen on the throne, Beatrice grapples with everything she lost when she gained the ultimate crown. Samantha is busy living up to her "party princess" persona...and maybe adding a party prince by her side. Nina is trying to avoid the palace--and Prince Jefferson--at all costs. And a dangerous secret threatens to undo all of Daphne's carefully laid "marry Prince Jefferson" plans.

A new reign has begun....

My Thoughts

Book 1: American Royals ★★★★☆ (4)

Continuing the story from American Royals, Majesty sadly did not meet my expectations. Beatrice is now queen and all eyes are on her for her marriage with Teddy. But what about Conner?

She could let go of Beatrice the girl, and give herself over to Beatrice the queen.

Sam and her friendship with Nina is still cracked as Nina dreads going near the palace. To make things worse, things between Nina and Jefferson are still on ice since they broke up.

And just like that, she thought with weary resignation, she headed back into her best friend's world—the world of the American royals—all over again.

Daphne, on the other hand, has prepared so much just so she can secure her right as princess. If it means chasing after Jefferson until the end, she will do all she can.

Sometimes Daphne felt that only at moments like this, when she was somewhere public, did she truly exist. That she wasn't real unless someone else's eyes were on her, unless she was being seen.

Star Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (1.5)

So...the character development went back to zero and the relationships were all messed up. Conner and Beatrice would have been so cute, but the ending was not to my liking. The point was for what to happen?

Daphne, of course, I still despise and pity her. The author did do a good job of making her unlikeable though. She is too clingy and doesn't have her own path and purpose in life except to marry Jefferson.

Overall, Majesty was a continuation of the American legacy, but not the best ending. In my opinion, it's okay to skip this one and read just the first book.
